Three Teams Favored to Land Dallas Goedert in Eagles Blockbuster Trade

Philadelphia, PA – April 17, 2025

With the 2025 NFL Draft just days away, trade rumors surrounding Philadelphia Eagles’ star tight end Dallas Goedert are reaching a fever pitch. Carrying a $11.7 million cap hit in the final year of his contract and with no firm commitment from GM Howie Roseman for an extension, Goedert appears poised for a blockbuster trade. The Eagles are reportedly seeking a Day 3 draft pick, ideally a fourth-rounder, or even a 2026 pick if 2025 capital isn’t offered, per FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz.

Three teams stand out as frontrunners to acquire the 30-year-old Super Bowl champion: the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Kansas City Chiefs: A Post-Kelce Game-Changer

The Chiefs, after Travis Kelce’s retirement, need a tight end to fill enormous shoes. Goedert posted 58 receptions, 638 yards, and 4 TDs in 2024, and would fit seamlessly into Patrick Mahomes’ offense.

“Andy Reid’s offense thrives with a tight end who can block and catch,” said NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

With $15.7M in cap space and six 2025 picks (including an extra third-rounder), the Chiefs could afford the trade and make Goedert their next championship-caliber weapon.

Dallas Cowboys: A Texas Homecoming with Rivalry Heat

Though born in South Dakota, Goedert’s college roots at South Dakota State make Texas feel like home. The Cowboys’ TE group (Jake Ferguson, Luke Schoonmaker) is decent — but Goedert would supercharge the red-zone attack and give Dak Prescott another elite weapon.

“Goedert in Dallas would be a nightmare for defenses,” tweeted ESPN’s Jordan Reid.

With $20M in cap space and a suitable Day 3 pick, Dallas is well-positioned — and a trade would heat up the NFC East rivalry as Goedert faces his former team twice a year.

Pittsburgh Steelers: A TE Boost for a New QB Era

Pittsburgh, entering a new quarterback chapter, needs reliable weapons. Whether it’s Fields, Stafford, or a rookie like Shedeur Sanders, Goedert could thrive in Arthur Smith’s 2-TE sets alongside Pat Freiermuth.

“Goedert’s a perfect fit for Pittsburgh’s gritty style,” said The Athletic’s Dane Brugler.

With $18M in cap space and all draft picks intact, Pittsburgh could meet the Eagles’ demands. His playoff pedigree fits well in Mike Tomlin’s win-now culture.

Why Philly Might Pull the Trigger

The Eagles are rebuilding on defense after losing Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham. Trading Goedert helps free up cap and could open space for a rookie TE like Colston Loveland, rumored to be on Philly’s radar.

Roseman’s noncommittal statement — “Dallas is a big part of our team, but no decisions are final” — only fuels the fire.

At 30, Goedert wants a big extension. Philly may be ready to move on — and contenders like KC, Dallas, or Pittsburgh could be ready to cash in.
