Green Bay, WI – April 25, 2025
The Green Bay Packers didn’t just draft a player Thursday night — they drafted a tone-setter. With the 25th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Packers selected Wake Forest safety Malik Mustapha, and he wasted no time delivering a bold promise to quarterback Jordan Love.
“Let’s bring the Lombardi back home,” Mustapha declared during his introductory call with Love.
Mustapha’s fiery message instantly electrified Cheeseheads everywhere, still buzzing from Love’s breakout 2024 season. After watching Darnell Savage and Rudy Ford depart in free agency, GM Brian Gutekunst locked in on Mustapha’s rare combination of speed, physicality, and ball-hawking instincts.

Before the draft, Mustapha clocked a blistering 4.32-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and racked up 5 interceptions, 8 pass deflections, and 74 tackles during his final college season.
“We wanted a playmaker who fits the Packers way — smart, tough, and relentless,” Gutekunst said.
Standing 5’11”, 205 pounds, Mustapha brings versatility to a secondary undergoing major changes. With Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes holding down the outside, Mustapha is expected to slide into the starting strong safety role immediately.
Head coach Matt LaFleur praised Mustapha’s mindset and leadership:
“Malik brings the edge and intensity we love here in Green Bay.”
Financially, Mustapha’s four-year, $14.2 million rookie deal fits neatly into the Packers’ structured cap, preserving flexibility for potential in-season moves.
With playoff heartbreak still fresh after falling short in the Divisional Round, Packers fans are rallying behind Mustapha’s battle cry:
“Bring the trophy back where it belongs.”
As the Packers continue building around Jordan Love’s prime window, adding a dynamic enforcer like Mustapha could be the spark that reignites Titletown’s championship flame.
