Cowboys Legend Tyron Smith Retires After One Year With Jets, Sends Five-Word Goodbye to Dallas

New York, NY – After 14 legendary NFL seasons — 13 of them spent anchoring the Dallas Cowboys’ offensive line — Tyron Smith is officially hanging up his cleats.

Smith, who spent the 2025 season with the New York Jets, announced his retirement today and delivered a simple but powerful five-word message to the Cowboys and their fans:

“Dallas, my home forever.”

It’s the kind of goodbye only a true Cowboy could give.

A Pillar of Greatness

Drafted No. 9 overall in 2011, Smith became the heartbeat of Dallas’ offensive line through the 2010s, helping the Cowboys dominate the trenches and power star-studded offenses.
An 8-time Pro Bowler, 2-time First-Team All-Pro, and future Hall of Famer, Smith was more than just a protector — he was the foundation.

Even after suiting up for the Jets in his final season, Smith’s heart clearly never left Dallas.

Cowboys Nation Reacts

Social media erupted as fans, former teammates, and coaches paid tribute to one of the franchise’s all-time greats.
Many echoed the sentiment Smith left behind — no matter where he played, he was, and always will be, a Cowboy.

“Tyron was the standard,” one former teammate wrote. “Dallas is his forever home.”

And now, as Tyron Smith steps away from the game, he leaves behind a legacy few will ever match — forged in silver and blue.
