Dallas, TX – April 27, 2025 —
As a lifelong Cowboys fan, I’ll say it straight: Mel Kiper Jr. was way too generous.
A grade of B for the 2025 Draft? Sure, if your goal is to be “solid” and not special.
Where’s the Swagger, Dallas?
The Cowboys picked Tyler Booker — the “best guard” on some boards — and treated it like a slam dunk.
News flash: drafting a guard in Round 1 without trading back (when you could’ve stockpiled more picks) isn’t championship behavior.
It’s playing not to lose, instead of playing to win.
We used to be the team that swung for the fences — now we’re applauding safe picks like we’re the Cincinnati Bengals of 2015?
Defense Wins Championships…But Not Alone
Yes, Donovan Ezeiruaku and Shavon Revel Jr. are promising defenders.
Yes, they fill real needs.
But let’s be honest: this team needed firepower after watching CeeDee Lamb get triple-covered in the playoffs.
And what did we add at receiver?
Crickets.
If you’re not giving Dak Prescott (or whoever’s under center long-term) more weapons, you’re setting up another one-and-done postseason.
Brian Schottenheimer’s Vision Is… Vanilla?
I love the idea of “building a real team,” but right now it feels like we’re building a team to go 10-7 and lose in the Divisional Round.
Again.
There’s a difference between building for toughness and settling for mediocrity.
Bottom Line: B Grade? Maybe. But Boring? Definitely.
This Draft doesn’t scream Super Bowl.
It screams “maybe we’ll hang around” while the 49ers, Eagles, and Lions stay aggressive.
Cowboys Nation deserves better.
We deserve bold moves, not just safe bets.
Mel Kiper can keep his “B.”
As a fan who bleeds blue and silver, I grade this Draft a C+.
And that’s being generous.
