Kansas City, MO – Brett Veach is at it again. The Kansas City Chiefs have quietly made a sneaky addition to their offensive line, signing Esa Pole, a high-upside offensive tackle out of Washington State, during the 2025 undrafted free agency frenzy.
Standing at 6’5″ and weighing 323 pounds, Pole is a massive, athletic presence who only started playing football in 2021. Despite his late start, his rapid development turned heads across the scouting community. With a background in basketball, Pole moves with rare agility for a man his size, drawing comparisons to a defensive forward on the hardwood.
Draft expert Dane Brugler described Pole as a “nimble athlete with rare size and natural strength,” making him an ideal developmental project for the Chiefs’ offensive line factory.
While Pole had a rough outing against future NFL star Laiatu Latu last season, there’s a crucial silver lining: he didn’t allow a single sack throughout the entire 2023 campaign.

With Jawaan Taylor recovering from knee surgery, Kansas City needed more depth at tackle. Along with Pole, the Chiefs also signed Dalton Cooper and invited Jason Collier to compete in what promises to be an intense training camp battle.
Don’t be surprised if Esa Pole — the raw talent from Washington State — becomes the next breakout name polished into a star by Andy Reid and Brett Veach.
