Eagles Keep Dallas Goedert And the Reason Makes Perfect Sense

It’s tough to win a Super Bowl. It’s even tougher to win two in a row. That’s what made what the Kansas City Chiefs did in Super Bowls LVII and LVIII so impressive over the past few seasons.

The Chiefs were looking to be the first ever team to three-peat a Super Bowl, but Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles got in the way of that goal.

The Eagles won Super Bowl LIX and they’ll be the defending champions until February, but there’s no resting on your laurels in the NFL.

Dallas Goedert to Remain With Eagles After Reworking Contract

As such, the Eagles need to get getting after it in 2025-26, and they took a big step in the right direction by re-signing an important piece of their offense.

Veteran tight end Dallas Goedert has been re-signed on a team friendly deal. The Eagles did have options to trade the former South Dakota State tight end, but they ultimately decided to bring him back.

And that’s a big deal for Philly.

The Eagles have championship DNA that they want to protect and continue to foster, and Goedert was a big part of that last season. He caught 42 passes for 496 yards and just two touchdowns, but he was a strong veteran presence and a nice safety net for Hurts downfield.

Goedert averaged 11.8 yards per catch, which is great production from the tight end position.

Perhaps most importantly, he came up big when it mattered most for the Eagles. He lead the team in receptions with 17 and receiving yards with 215 during their playoff run.

The Eagles drafted Goedert with the 49th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Not only is he a crafty veteran at this point of his NFL career, but he’s their crafty veteran.

This is a good move for both parties.
