The Dallas Cowboys are currently preparing for the return of Dak Prescott, who is expected to be healthy for the upcoming season. His comeback could instantly make the Cowboys playoff contenders again.
However, Prescott’s health remains a concern. He has missed 26 games over the past five seasons, making it difficult for the Cowboys to fully rely on him. Adding to the uncertainty, backup QB Cooper Rush left in free agency, and while the team traded for Joe Milton, he is still a developmental prospect and not ready to lead an NFL offense.
That’s why Bleacher Report’s Mitch Milani has made a bold suggestion: Aaron Rodgers could be a surprise fit for Dallas.
🔄 Steelers Are the Favorite — For Now
Rodgers has been heavily linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers, even visiting the team’s facility and having a throwing session with wide receiver DK Metcalf. If he decides to keep playing, Pittsburgh is widely seen as the most likely destination.
But there’s a twist — Rodgers is in no rush to sign. On the Pat McAfee Show, he explained that he is currently dealing with personal matters that are more important than football, which could delay his decision until training camp in July.
🔥 Why the Cowboys Could Enter the Picture
Milani pointed out that if Prescott were to suffer another injury, the Cowboys might have no choice but to reach out to Rodgers.
“This (Brian) Schottenheimer offense would not be too far off from the Mike McCarthy-style offense that Aaron Rodgers ran at a high level for so many years in Green Bay,” Milani noted.
“I could see that working out if Dak does get hurt.”
🏆 Rodgers’ Resume Speaks for Itself
Aaron Rodgers is:
-
A 10-time Pro Bowler
-
A 4-time First-Team All-Pro
-
A Super Bowl champion
-
A 4-time NFL MVP
While it would take a major shift for Rodgers to land anywhere other than Pittsburgh, the Cowboys’ lack of quarterback depth could force them to act if Prescott goes down.
After all, Joe Milton isn’t the answer — at least not yet. And if Rodgers is still unsigned by training camp, the unthinkable could become reality in Dallas.
