After drafting two pass catchers in the first few rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears could be looking to trade former first-round pick DJ Moore.

The Bears selected Colston Loveland in round one and Luther Burden in round two, loading up this offense with weapons. Let’s not forget that the Bears invested the 9th overall pick in Rome Odunze in 2024.

One team that could be in the market for a wide receiver is the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers just traded away George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, leaving them weak at the position.
Myers writes, “For the current state of the Steelers, they don’t have a quarterback in place, and only have one true standout wide receiver in DK Metcalf. If Pittsburgh can’t land Aaron Rodgers, and they have to rely on rookie Will Howard, it isn’t going to be fantastic for his development to have just Metcalf to throw to.”

“For Pittsburgh, they should look to trade for another wide receiver that fits their scheme, and that is DJ Moore.”
Trading Pickens away doesn’t necessarily mean that the Steelers don’t need any more help at wide receiver. Having both Pickens and DK Metcalf was a bad schematic fit, but Moore makes a lot more sense, as Myers explains.
Pittsburgh Steelers Trade for DJ Moore: Prediction Reaction
Despite taking a small step back in 2024, Moore is still a great receiver at 28 years old. In 2023, Moore caught 96 passes for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns.
While that number dropped slightly in 2024, Moore still had 98 receptions for 966 yards and six touchdowns. Trading for Moore would be a massive upgrade to the Steelers’ passing attack.
Below, we’ll break down why the Bears should move on from Moore and why the Steelers are the perfect team to trade for the receiver.
DJ Moore Joining the Pittsburgh Steelers
When reacting to another Moore trade prediction, I explained why the Bears should trade Moore away.
In that article, I wrote, “That leaves the Bears with Rome Odunze to play on the outside, Burden to play as the Z and Loveland is your big slot receiver. This is more than enough firepower and the Bears could use their return on Moore to address other positions… Ideally, you’d be getting high-end draft picks for Moore, which would then give the Bears the flexibility to fix their most pressing need next season. Since the Bears aren’t legit Super Bowl contenders yet, trading away a 28-year-old receiver fits their timeline as well.”
This is an evaluation that still holds true. The Bears haven’t made any other splash moves to their team. Trading away Moore to upgrade other needs is certainly still in the cards.
For the Steelers, their WR2 battle is between 33-year-old Robert Woods and Calvin Austin. In 2024, Austin had 548 yards on 36 catches and Woods went for 203 yards on 20 receptions. Both are rough options as your WR2.
That being said, this trade still doesn’t make sense for the Steelers. It seems like they’re going into a rebuild and Moore isn’t a cornerstone player to build around.
Even if the Steelers sign Aaron Rodgers, Moore doesn’t put them over the top either to win a Super Bowl in the next few years. The best course of action for the Steelers is getting younger and starting the rebuild.
While the idea of trading Moore to the Steelers makes sense on paper, it’s not the most realistic move for both sides.
