The Philadelphia Eagles currently hold the No. 32 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, but will it remain that way?
The Eagles’ defense could still use more depth, and General Manager Howie Roseman, along with the team’s front office, has a history of boldly executing trades without hesitation. In a mock draft released on Wednesday by Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, he predicts that the Eagles will jump into the trade market, swapping their No. 32 pick with the Las Vegas Raiders for the No. 37 and No. 108 picks.
Feldman explains: “The Eagles trade the No. 32 pick to the Raiders for the No. 37 pick and a fourth-rounder (No. 108), as Las Vegas scrambles to re-enter the first round to secure the draft’s top slot receiver.” He highlights Emeka Egbuka, a 6-1, 202-pound standout who had a breakout 2022 season with 74 receptions, 1,151 yards, and 10 touchdowns. Despite battling injuries in 2023, Egbuka posted similar numbers in 2024, helping the Ohio State Buckeyes clinch the national title. Ohio State coach Ryan Day once noted during Egbuka’s freshman year that his football IQ was so impressive that Day could envision him as a future coach. The former baseball player excels at tracking the ball and brings fierce competitiveness. At OSU’s pro day, he ran a 4.45-second 40-yard dash and recorded a 38-inch vertical jump—surpassing expectations. Adding intrigue, the Raiders’ new offensive coordinator, Chip Kelly, coached the Buckeyes’ offense in 2024 and knows Egbuka’s potential firsthand.
From a different perspective, this could be a savvy move for the Eagles. Rather than selecting a single talent like Egbuka at No. 32, sliding back five spots to No. 37 and gaining the additional No. 108 pick would give Philadelphia the chance to draft two promising prospects instead of just one. Given Roseman’s track record of bold decisions, this trade aligns perfectly with the Eagles’ philosophy of building a flexible, well-rounded roster.
