Buffalo, NY – September 7, 2025 — Chaos erupted in Orchard Park just hours before kickoff when a Baltimore Ravens fan was arrested outside Highmark Stadium for allegedly threatening Buffalo Bills supporters with a firearm ahead of the Bills vs. Ravens Week 1 showdown.
Police identified the suspect as Marcus Hill, 33, of Baltimore, Maryland, who now faces charges of aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, carrying a firearm without a license, and disorderly conduct.
The incident unfolded around 6:40 p.m. near Lot 4, where Bills Mafia tailgaters were gathering in anticipation of the primetime clash. Witnesses said Hill, dressed in full Ravens gear, became belligerent during a heated exchange with a group of Bills fans. The confrontation escalated when he allegedly brandished a handgun and shouted threats at the crowd.
Security personnel swiftly intervened and subdued the suspect before Erie County deputies arrived. Officers confiscated a loaded 9mm pistol and additional ammunition. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
Authorities briefly locked down the area while questioning witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage. Within minutes, the situation was declared safe and pregame festivities resumed.
Officials commended the rapid response of stadium security and police. “Our number one priority is ensuring every fan can enjoy the game safely,” an Erie County Sheriff’s spokesperson said. “Thanks to fast action, a dangerous situation was neutralized.”
In the aftermath, Highmark Stadium enforced enhanced security screenings, including stricter bag checks and metal detector protocols. Despite the scare, the nationally televised Bills vs. Ravens season opener kicked off on schedule.
This alarming episode highlights the fierce emotions and intensity surrounding one of the AFC’s rising rivalries — and serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance at NFL games.
