With the 2025 NFL Draft fast approaching, speculation continues to mount regarding the future of tight end Dallas Goedert with the Philadelphia Eagles. Goedert battled through another injury-riddled campaign and celebrated his 30th birthday in January. His current contract is set to void in 2026, pushing his 2025 salary cap hit to approximately $11.7 million. As the Eagles prioritize financial flexibility at the start of the new league year, Goedert’s situation seems headed toward one of two paths: a trade or a contract extension.
According to Eagles insider Anthony DiBona, a trade appears to be the more likely scenario. DiBona predicts Goedert could fetch a Day 3 draft pick, specifically projecting a fifth-round trade to the Indianapolis Colts. The Eagles’ focus in this deal? Georgia Bulldogs offensive guard Dylan Fairchild, who was reportedly among the team’s top-30 pre-draft visits this month. DiBona shared his perspective on the potential trade:
“After bolstering their defense with several Georgia Bulldogs in recent years, Philadelphia turns to the offensive side. Dylan Fairchild started at both left and right guard for Georgia over the past two seasons. Standing at 6’5” and 318 pounds with 33-inch arms, Fairchild possesses the physical profile that offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland covets for the interior line. He could challenge for the starting right guard role in 2025.”
The Eagles face a gap at right guard following their decision to let 2024 starter Mekhi Becton enter free agency. While they have depth with players like Tyler Steen, Trevor Keegan, and the newly acquired Kenyon Green, adding a competitive piece through the draft seems to be a key objective.
Fairchild is an imposing figure, boasting size and reach comparable to Becton. In 2024, he earned an impressive 87.0 pass-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus, surrendering just one sack across 536 snaps. His run-blocking skills need refinement for the NFL level, but Philadelphia’s coaching staff is well-equipped to develop him in that area.
Goedert’s time with the Eagles may be nearing an end, as team management has offered vague responses when pressed about his future this offseason. The organization has also strengthened its tight end group by signing Harrison Bryant and Kylen Granson in free agency.
Becton was a force in the run game last season but struggled at times in pass protection. A prospect like Fairchild, with his combination of size, college production, and potential, represents a sensible target for Philadelphia early on Day 3 of the draft.
