The Pittsburgh Steelers are still waiting for Aaron Rodgers to make a decision on his future. The veteran quarterback reportedly has three options:
-
Sign with Pittsburgh
-
Retire
-
Wait for another opportunity elsewhere in the league
Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints are also a potential landing spot for Rodgers as Derek Carr’s availability for the 2025 season is in doubt due to a lingering shoulder injury.
As Pittsburgh waits, Easton Freeze of A to Z Sports listed the Steelers as a potential trade destination for Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis.
“They [Steelers] are in the same situation as the Giants, except their QB room is even less settled. All eyes remain on Aaron Rodgers, who still refuses to pull the trigger and sign just yet. Keep an eye on them in the draft as well to see what direction they appear to be headed in,” Freeze wrote.
Levis’ Uncertain Future in Tennessee
Levis had a difficult 2024 season:
-
13 touchdowns
-
12 interceptions
-
12 starts
He struggled to find consistency and became a liability at times for the Titans. With Tennessee holding the No. 1 overall pick, most analysts expect them to draft Miami QB Cam Ward, which would push Levis out of the long-term picture.
Why the Steelers Might Take a Chance
Despite his 2024 struggles, Levis still flashes elite arm strength and has shown glimpses of upside in his first two seasons. Given his age (25) and contract value ($9 million), he could be a low-risk, high-upside backup or future project for Pittsburgh.
-
Cost: A trade for Levis is projected to only cost a Day 3 draft pick.
-
Fit: He could sit behind a veteran QB like Rodgers (if signed), learn the system, and develop further.
-
Upside: Levis offers more long-term potential than Mason Rudolph as a QB2.
Final Verdict:
Will Levis isn’t ready to be a full-time NFL starter just yet, but Pittsburgh could be the right environment for him to grow without immediate pressure. If Rodgers signs, Levis becomes a strong insurance policy. If not, he may even compete for snaps down the line.
