Packers Star Micah Parsons Sends Bold Message Before Facing Former Coach

Thursday Night Football is bringing the heat early in the season, with a Week 2 clash that feels like it could have January implications. The Green Bay Packers are set to host the Washington Commanders in a matchup between two NFC playoff teams from last year-both of whom are eyeing another deep run in 2025.

Green Bay opened its season with a convincing win over the Detroit Lions, and the buzz wasn’t just about the scoreboard. It marked the debut of Micah Parsons in a Packers uniform-a move that already looks like a game-changer. Meanwhile, Washington took care of business in Week 1, stifling a flat Giants offense in a 21-6 win that was more about defense than fireworks.

But this Thursday night isn’t just about two rising teams trying to make an early statement. It also marks a meaningful reunion between Parsons and Commanders head coach Dan Quinn.

The two forged a bond during their time together in Dallas, where Quinn served as defensive coordinator during the early stages of Parsons’ career. And that connection clearly runs deep.

“Dan’s my guy,” Parsons said this week. “Even going through the process over the years, he’s always reached out, just checking on me as a person.

Never really cared about football, always telling me how much his wife miss me and how he wants to see me in Hawaii one day. That’s just my guy.

He know it’s just like a father figure, uncle, however you wanna put it. That’s my guy and we’re gonna go forever.

We’re in this for the long run and maybe our journeys might cross again one day.”

It’s a rare moment of off-the-field honesty in a sport that often keeps things buttoned up, and it adds an extra layer of intrigue to an already compelling matchup. But don’t expect Quinn to get sentimental for too long-he’s got a game to win. And while his primary focus is Washington’s defense, his offense will have to deal with the headache that is Micah Parsons.

Parsons wasn’t on a full snap count in Week 1, partially due to a lingering back issue and partially because he’s still getting acclimated in Green Bay’s system. But even in a limited role-just 30 snaps-he was disruptive. He logged two pressures and sacked Jared Goff late in the game, helping seal a 27-13 win for the Packers.

Now, with a game under his belt and a few more practices in green and gold, there’s a real chance Parsons’ workload increases. And that’s not great news if you’re Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Daniels is elusive-one of the tougher young QBs to bring down-but if there’s anyone built to chase him down, it’s Parsons. The two will be center stage on Thursday night, and it’s a battle worth circling.

So what we’ve got here is a primetime matchup with playoff implications, a star pass rusher finding his rhythm in a new city, and a reunion that blends football with family. In the NFL, that’s about as good as it gets.
