Packers Star Quietly Leaves SNF Celebration After Learning of Grandfather’s Heart Attack

Arlington, TX – September 29, 2025

The Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys produced a 40-40 thriller on Sunday Night Football. Yet for one Packers veteran, a hard-fought touchdown quickly shifted from celebration to a personal and emotional revelation.

Running back Josh Jacobs, in his first season with Green Bay, delivered a crucial score late in the fourth quarter. He powered into the end zone on a three-yard run with 7:57 left, extending the lead to 24-6.

That drive showcased the Packers’ grinding style — nine plays, 36 yards, chewing up clock and leaning on Jacobs’ bruising power. It wasn’t flashy, but it reflected the balance Green Bay has been searching for.

For Jacobs, the moment was supposed to be about validation. The former Raider and Saint proved his value in green and gold, producing a physical presence that forced Dallas to respect the run all night.

But after the game, Jacobs revealed heartbreaking personal news. “I didn’t know my grandfather was rushed to the hospital with a heart attack before the game,” he said. “I celebrated that touchdown with joy, but now it feels completely different.”

“That score is for him, and I just pray he pulls through,” Jacobs added, his words resonating far beyond the stat sheet. His late touchdown became more than points — it became a tribute to family.

Teammates rallied around him in the locker room, praising his grit and emotional honesty. For a veteran still building his role in Green Bay, the night became about more than football alone.

For the Packers, Jacobs’ production steadied the offense. For Jacobs, the game was personal — a reminder that even under the brightest lights, the battles that matter most are often fought at home.
