Bill Belichick continues to see his name in the news, as his relationship with Jordon Hudson draws more and more public attention.
One of the more head-scratching incidents involving this duo saw Hudson post an email Belichick sent to her and several others on social media regarding his viral CBS interview.
During the interview, Hudson reportedly interjected on several occasions, with the overall exchange between Belichick and the interviewer, Tony Dokoupil, being rather tense.
In the wake of the controversial interview airing, Belichick sent an email out regarding the promotion of his new book “The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football” that Hudson shared on social media.
The email once again shined the spotlight on Belichick. For starters, he usually likes to keep matters like this under wraps, but beyond that, he seemed to be dancing around the topic of letting Tom Brady leave the New England Patriots back in 2020, which he admits in the book was a mistake.
While many folks have weighed in on the email and the fallout from Belichick and Hudson’s relationship, Bill Simmons couldn’t help but think about Brady when seeing this email. In fact, he thinks Belichick’s leaked email highlights why Brady opted to leave the Patriots and sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency.
“They both kind of thought each of them was more responsible than the other,” Simmons said on “The Bill Simmons Podcast. “So when I read that paragraph [in the email] I thought, ‘Man, Belichick must have been so pissed when Brady had that Tampa season where he won the title. Because clearly he does give a s**t about all this stuff.’”
Brady would end up playing three seasons with the Buccaneers after leaving the Patriots, winning Super Bowl LV with them in his first year with the team.
Belichick coached New England for four seasons without Brady before he and the team parted ways. After a year off from coaching, he agreed to become the head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels in December 2024.
