BREAKING: Bills Rookie Released After Bar Incident Night Before First Preseason Game

Buffalo, NY – August 8, 2025

The Buffalo Bills made headlines for all the wrong reasons this morning, releasing rookie defensive end Hayden Harris after an off-field incident just hours before the team’s first preseason game.

According to team sources, Harris—who joined the Bills as an undrafted free agent from Montana—was involved in a late-night bar altercation Wednesday that violated team rules and expectations. Details of the incident have not been released, but it was serious enough for the organization to act swiftly and decisively.

Bills head coach addressed the situation with unmistakable conviction:🗣️ “This is Buffalo — and here, tradition isn’t a gift, it’s a price you pay in sweat. Preseason was his first test, and he threw it away for a night out. That’s not just unprepared — that’s disrespect. And in red and blue, disrespect gets you out the door.”

Harris, who transferred from UCLA to Montana, had emerged as a star in 2024, earning Second-Team All-Big Sky honors and being named team Defensive MVP after recording 9.5 sacks, 17 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and an interception. His college journey, spanning 32 games, showcased his talent and resilience.

But in Buffalo, culture comes first. The timing of the incident—on the eve of his NFL debut—left the front office no choice but to move on. The Bills’ message to the locker room is clear: discipline, accountability, and commitment matter just as much as talent.

As for Harris, his NFL future is now uncertain. The Bills, meanwhile, turn their focus back to football and the standards that define one of the league’s most demanding franchises.
