The Pittsburgh Steelers traded away former second-round pick George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys last week.
While many in the fan base see the trade as a good move, some have been very critical. Steelers captain Cam Heyward weighed in on the move in the latest episode of his podcast Not Just Football.
“I woke up the next morning, and he had been traded,” Heyward said. “Was I surprised? Yeah, but the game is the game. I know it benefits both teams.
We get another third-round pick. They get a wide receiver to go along with CeeDee Lamb. Would I have liked to see George and DK play together? Yeah, but hopefully there’s something in the works.”
Heyward added a message for Steelers fans – stay
“I’m sure guys have talked about it, and this is a PSA for all Steeler fans: don’t panic,” Heyward said. “Stay patient, we’ll get to work. I think sometimes we can jump off the ship and think the ship is sinking.
We got work to do. And, you know, whoever won the offseason isn’t gonna win the regular season, is not gonna win the Super Bowl.”
There is plenty of time for moves to be made, and we’ll see if and when the Steelers make those moves before the season kicks off.
