Kansas City, MO — The Kansas City Chiefs may have uncovered their next hidden gem, signing former Clemson tight end Jake Briningstool as an undrafted free agent following the 2025 NFL Draft.
Standing 6-foot-6, Briningstool leaves Clemson as the program’s all-time leader in receptions by a tight end with 127 catches. In his final season, he recorded 49 receptions for 530 yards and 7 touchdowns, showcasing strong hands and solid route-running ability.
At the NFL Combine, he posted a 4.75-second 40-yard dash, ranking among the top 10 tight ends in speed.

While the Chiefs remain set at the top of the tight end depth chart with Travis Kelce and Noah Gray, the battle for the TE3 spot is wide open — and Briningstool has a legitimate shot to claim it.
His size, ball skills, and potential as a pass-catching mismatch make him an intriguing developmental player for Kansas City’s high-powered offense.
Though he’ll need to improve as a blocker to fully round out his game, Briningstool’s rare physical traits give him a clear path to earning a gameday roster spot.
If he develops as hoped, the Chiefs may have quietly found a long-term successor to one of the NFL’s greatest tight ends.
