Kansas City just turned up the heat.
In a move that’s already sending shockwaves through the AFC, the Chiefs signed former Bills WR Gabe Davis to a 3-year, $39 million deal, pairing him with blazing rookie Xavier Worthy to supercharge Patrick Mahomes’ receiving corps. After that ugly Super Bowl LIX loss to the Eagles (40-22), KC just sent a loud message: we’re not done yet.
Davis, 26, isn’t just a body — he’s a certified deep-ball assassin, averaging 13.9 yards per catch last season with 553 yards and 7 TDs. He’s been a red-zone menace with 27 career touchdowns, more than Skyy Moore and Justyn Ross combined. And with Rashee Rice’s suspension looming, Davis steps in as a ready-made playmaker.
“Gabe’s a difference-maker,” said Andy Reid. And with Worthy running a 4.21 40, defenses better pray for mercy. This duo? Nightmare fuel.
The move was needed — badly. Kansas City traded away Marquise Brown, let DeAndre Hopkins walk, and didn’t draft a WR until late. Now, with Davis, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and UDFA gem Elijhah Badger in the room, Mahomes suddenly has a crew that can burn you deep and wide.
GM Brett Veach called Davis “our explosive spark”, and he’s not wrong. His 2022 season (836 yards) hinted at WR1 potential. Kansas City believes they can unlock it.
With two picks left (including No. 226), KC may look to the secondary, but make no mistake — this is the move fans were waiting for. The Chiefs are back in reload mode, and Mahomes has another weapon to reclaim the throne.
The kingdom roars.
The revenge tour starts now.
