Chiefs Sign Amari Cooper, Sending a Six-Word Warning to AFC Rivals

Amari Cooper remains a free agent as the 2025 NFL Offseason continues to progress towards NFL Training Camp.

With less wide receivers available, and plenty of teams still needing help at the position, Cooper shouldn’t last on the market much longer.

After spending a season on the Buffalo Bills and playing alongside Josh Allen, he was able to improve his stock a bit to show teams that he can still provide value.

There is a team in the AFC that could utilize Cooper’s talents, and that is the Kansas City Chiefs.

Kansas City Chiefs Sign Amari Cooper

Amari Cooper: No complaints about stats, 'winning is way more important'

Earlier in the offseason, the Chiefs brought back JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Marquise Brown to go with still having Xavier Worthy, Rashee Rice, and Skyy Moore in place. The wide receiver room is solid, but with each dealing either injuries or off-field legal issues presents a challenge the Chiefs must figure out to make sure they have enough wide receiver depth.

Having a quarterback under center like Patrick Mahomes leads to a pass-heavy offensive approach, and if a couple of wide receivers miss time at the same moment, then it could hinder the Chiefs’ offense.

Drafting Jalen Royals is another plus, but with him being a rookie, there is going to be a bit of an adjustment period for him to learn the style of play at the next level. For Kansas City to rebound from their Super Bowl loss, they must add more proven talent to the room before the 2025 season gets underway.

Amari Cooper’s Impact for the Kansas City Chiefs

Amari Cooper this past season had accumulated 588 yards and four touchdowns, while also averaging 11.8 yards per reception. With the Bills, Cooper had that production despite heavily competing for target share with Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, Dalton Kincaid, Dawson Knox, and an offense that heavily features the run too with James Cook and Allen. If Cooper has a full offseason to adjust to an offense, he can provide more of an instant impact.

At 6’1, 210 pounds, Cooper would provide the big-bodied, contested catch receiver that the Kansas City Chiefs need. Cooper would become a top target for Mahomes early on, and help balance out the offense that needs more help than just Collins.
