Coach Vic Fangio Issues Warning: Former Cornerstones Must Fight for Spots or Risk Being Cut Under New System

Philadelphia, PA – A new era is rising in Philadelphia.
And according to defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, no one’s job is safe — not even the veterans who once anchored the Eagles’ defense.

In his latest press conference, Fangio made it crystal clear:

“We’re moving forward with new standards. If anyone — veteran or not — can’t adapt, we’ll make the necessary decisions.”

The message sounded like a siren for established names like James Bradberry, Nakobe Dean, Reed Blankenship, Marlon Tuipulotu, and Avonte Maddox — all once key pieces of the Eagles’ defense, now facing the very real possibility of being replaced if they can’t keep up with the demands of the new system.

Bradberry, after a sharp decline in 2024, must bounce back quickly or lose his starting spot.
Dean, despite his youth, needs to prove he can command Fangio’s complex linebacker schemes.
Blankenship must sharpen his deep coverage abilities to fend off challenges from young talents.
Meanwhile, Maddox, once a staple at slot corner, faces a tough battle against injuries — and against hungry rookies like Cooper DeJean.

The 2025 Eagles won’t be built on nostalgia.
Fangio and the coaching staff are prioritizing youth, speed, and versatility, creating a ruthless competition that will stretch from the first snap of training camp to the final roster cuts.

“We’re not building this team for the past. We’re building it for the Super Bowl future,” Fangio declared.

A new chapter is being written in Philadelphia.
And in this chapter, only those who adapt — and dominate — will earn the right to stay.
