Dallas Goedert just signed a $10 million extension to remain with the Philadelphia Eagles, but despite the financial boost and familiar surroundings, the veteran tight end knows his long-term future in Philly is anything but guaranteed.

In a recent interview, Goedert expressed appreciation for the organization and the opportunity to continue playing in midnight green, but his tone revealed a deeper awareness of the business side of the NFL.
“I’m pretty lucky to still be here,” Goedert admitted. “But things change fast in this league.”

At 30 years old, Goedert is one of the most experienced players on the roster. Since stepping into a larger role following Zach Ertz’s departure, he’s been a consistent presence in the Eagles’ offense — both as a pass catcher and blocker. However, with Philadelphia looking to retool the roster and invest in younger talent, Goedert’s place in the long-term plan is under quiet scrutiny.
The one-year, $10 million deal he signed suggests a bridge — not a commitment. It gives the Eagles short-term stability at tight end while preserving financial flexibility heading into 2026. It also offers Goedert a chance to prove he can still be a difference-maker, especially after injuries limited his production in recent seasons.

Last year, Goedert posted 498 yards and 3 touchdowns across 12 games — solid, but far from his peak. Still, coaches and teammates continue to value his reliability, leadership, and toughness in the trenches.
“Dallas has been a warrior for us,” head coach Nick Sirianni said last month. “He does all the little things that don’t always show up on the stat sheet.”
The Eagles also used a mid-round draft pick in 2025 to bring in a developmental tight end, signaling they are already preparing for the future at the position. While Goedert is expected to open the season as TE1, his snap count, red zone role, and durability will all be under evaluation.
For now, the veteran tight end remains focused and grounded.
“I’m just taking it year by year, game by game,” he said. “As long as I’m here, I’ll give this city everything I’ve got.”
That sentiment echoes throughout the Eagles’ locker room — appreciation for the moment, understanding of the stakes, and an unwavering commitment to win.
