Patrick Mahomes may not have delivered his flashiest statistical season in 2024, but to former teammate LeSean McCoy, there’s no doubt: he’s still the best in the game.
Appearing on “The Facility” podcast, McCoy was asked if Mahomes is still the most dominant player in the league. His response was definitive.

“Is Patrick Mahomes still the most dominant or best player in the league? Yes,” McCoy said. “At his worst, AFC Championship Game; at his best, Super Bowl champion.”
Despite leading an offense that finished just 15th in scoring last season, Mahomes once again carried Kansas City to the Super Bowl. He did so with a depleted receiving corps, a nagging injury to his lead running back, and a rookie-heavy lineup in key spots.

That kind of leadership doesn’t go unnoticed.
“He’s the guy you want when everything around him is falling apart,” McCoy added. “He finds ways to win. That’s what makes him different.”
Mahomes’ ability to elevate the team, even in a so-called “down year,” has kept Kansas City near the top of early 2025 Super Bowl odds. Bettors and fantasy managers alike continue to trust him as one of the most reliable picks in football.
And now, with added weapons on offense and a healthy backfield, Mahomes enters the new season with a chip on his shoulder — and the full backing of those who’ve seen him lead from within.
If his worst still ends in a deep playoff run, the rest of the NFL better be ready for his best.
