The legend of Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes will grow this Saturday night in Waco, Texas.
The three-time Super Bowl MVP, two-time league MVP, and star quarterback will be enshrined in the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame.
Mahomes joins eight other inductees in the prestigious Texas High School Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025, celebrating his outstanding high school football career and subsequent NFL successes in Kansas City.
Mahomes joined the Chiefs as the No. 10 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. While his NFL career will be what he’s most remembered for, high school football is a way of life in Texas. To be enshrined in the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame is a unique honor.

Mahomes played baseball and football as a dual-sport athlete at Whitehouse High School in Texas. While he had the baseball pedigree with his father, Pat Mahomes Sr., and proved to be an ace pitcher with no-hitters and strikeouts galore, football was Mahomes’s passion. As a senior quarterback, he posted a 58% completion percentage, 4,619 passing yards, 50 passing touchdowns, 948 rushing yards, and 15 rushing touchdowns.
Mahomes, a three-star high school recruit, was viewed as a dual-threat quarterback. He’s certainly continued that reputation in the NFL as one of the more underrated threats as a runner. He didn’t have an extensive recruiting process with offers from Oklahoma State, Rice, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
The two-time First-Team All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowl quarterback has plenty of awards and trophies to hang his hat on, but this one will hit differently for the NFL star. It comes from his home state and recognizes where his football-playing career and his passion for the game truly began.
