Quez Watkins is staying in Philadelphia — and he’s betting on a resurgence.
The 25-year-old wide receiver has agreed to a restructured contract with the Eagles, reducing his 2025 cap hit by nearly $2 million, per team sources. The move frees up space for Philadelphia’s front office while allowing Watkins to solidify his role in a loaded receiver room.
“This team’s not done chasing championships,” Watkins told reporters Monday.
“I want to be part of that story.”
📉 From Breakout Speedster to Forgotten Name
Watkins exploded onto the scene in 2021 with his elite speed and vertical threat ability, but after the arrivals of A.J. Brown and the continued rise of DeVonta Smith, his role diminished. In 2024, he tallied just 18 catches for 237 yards, often buried behind newer options like Britain Covey and Joseph Ngata.
But now, with a leaner contract and a chip on his shoulder, Watkins is out to reclaim his identity — and possibly his place in Jalen Hurts’ deep-threat arsenal.

Head coach Nick Sirianni praised Watkins’ attitude and said the WR could play a valuable role as a field stretcher and return option.
“Quez still brings a unique skill set,” Sirianni noted.
“His speed opens things up for everyone else. He wants to win — and that matters.”
With the Eagles eyeing key defensive upgrades and dealing with cap maneuvering around Haason Reddick and James Bradberry, Watkins’ decision provides just enough space to stay aggressive in the free-agent market.
