Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed announced on social media that he had surgery to repair both a broken clavicle and a Jones fracture in his left foot Sept. 16.
“Successful foot & clavicle surgery thank you God,” Reed wrote in a post on X late in the afternoon on Sept. 16.
Reed broke his collarbone in the Packers’ Week 2 victory over the Washington Commanders Sept. 11 after catching a touchdown pass that was wiped out due to a holding penalty on the team’s opening possession. The recovery time for a collarbone fracture is often 6-8 weeks.
Since Reed was going to miss significant time during the season, he also had the fracture in his toe repaired. That injury originated in training camp. Reed wore a walking boot during the preseason before returning to play the opener against the Detroit Lions Sept. 7.
Reed had three receptions for 45 yards in the season opener.
With Reed and Christian Watson out, the Packers’ depth at receiver will be tested, but the toe injury had the potential to be a nagging problem for the entire season.
Down two receivers for a portion of the season (Watson is recovering from an ACL injury and could be back by Week 6), quarterback Jordan Love will rely on Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks and 2025 first-round draft pick Matthew Golden. Malik Heath and rookie Savion Williams will also get opportunities.
Also, espect Love to target tight end Tucker Kraft often. Kraft had six catches for 124 yards in the victory over Washington.
