NFL Power Rankings Week 3 Roundup: Chiefs fall some more
Through two weeks of the 2025 season, the Kansas City Chiefs have fallen behind in a way that’s hard to ignore. At 0-2, the defending champions are facing questions about their offensive identity and overall consistency.

Major outlets like ESPN, NFL.com, CBS Sports, and The Athletic all dropped Kansas City several spots in their weekly Power Rankings. While most analysts still keep the Chiefs in or near the Top 10, the tone has shifted from confidence to concern.

For example, ESPN placed the Chiefs at No. 9, pointing to inconsistent wide receiver play and a lack of big plays downfield. NFL.com echoed similar concerns, ranking them just outside the top tier of contenders.

Meanwhile, CBS Sports was more blunt, noting that “Patrick Mahomes is doing everything, but he needs help” — a recurring theme after the Eagles loss.

The Athletic added that while the defense has played well enough, the offensive struggles — especially without suspended wideout Rashee Rice — make Kansas City look vulnerable in ways fans aren’t used to seeing.
The bottom line: Kansas City is no longer seen as the clear-cut No. 1, or even a lock for the Top 5. Instead, the Chiefs must prove they can bounce back quickly to avoid a deeper slide in both the rankings — and the standings.
