🚨 Chiefs Shake Up Roster Before Week 3: Rookie WR Hal Presley Released, LB Cole Christiansen Returns

The Kansas City Chiefs made an early-season roster change ahead of their Week 3 matchup. According to the NFL transaction wire on September 11, the team released rookie wide receiver Hal Presley from the practice squad.

Presley, an undrafted rookie out of Boston College, joined Kansas City this offseason in hopes of carving out a role as a developmental pass catcher. Despite showing flashes during camp, he wasn’t able to secure a long-term spot. His release clears the way for other depth options at wide receiver as the Chiefs continue to search for consistency in their passing game.

In a corresponding move, the Chiefs re-signed linebacker Cole Christiansen to the practice squad. Christiansen is a familiar face in Kansas City, having spent parts of the past two seasons with the organization. Known for his contributions on special teams, he provides experienced depth at linebacker while also bolstering the team’s third phase of the game.

These roster tweaks come as Kansas City sits at 0-2 for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era. With offensive struggles and injuries testing the team’s depth, every move carries added weight. Whether Christiansen can help stabilize special teams — and whether the WR room can step up without Presley — will be storylines to watch heading into Week 3.
