Green Bay, WI – September 24, 2025
In a move that has caught many by surprise, Green Bay Packers rookie cornerback Micah Robinson has rejected an Injured Reserve (IR) offer, opting instead to take a significant pay cut just to stay active and compete with his teammates. After suffering a hamstring injury in preseason, Robinson’s bold decision reveals his desire to prove himself on one of the NFL’s most intensely competitive rosters.
“I didn’t fight my whole life to sit on IR and watch,” Robinson said passionately. “I came here to play, to battle with my teammates. If that means cutting my paycheck, I’ll do it — because the chance to earn my spot means more than money.”
His words struck a chord among Packers fans, who saw in the rookie a reflection of the toughness and perseverance that define Green Bay’s legacy.
Robinson was drafted in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Tulane (after transferring from Furman) Wikipedia. He entered training camp as a promising defensive back with movement skills and instincts that earned him attention as a potential rising contributor. The preseason injury raised concerns that he might be placed on IR — until he chose to fight.
The risk is considerable. Accepting an IR placement would have guaranteed him salary while he healed, but it also would have robbed him of valuable practice reps and development time. Instead, Robinson opted to forgo that security to stay in the mix alongside veteran defenders such as Rashan Gary and Jaire Alexander.
Teammates rallied behind him. Quarterback Jordan Love called him “the kind of competitor who makes everyone around him better.”
For the Packers, a franchise built on culture, legacy, and accountability, Robinson’s decision fits the narrative Matt LaFleur and his staff often emphasize. Whether he becomes a regular contributor this season is uncertain — but already, he’s gained respect across the locker room and around Wisconsin.
