SOURCE: Chiefs Suspend Practice After Two Rookies Clash at Training Camp

Chiefs Training Camp: Andy Reid won't conduct joint preseason practices - Arrowhead Pride

Tension boiled over at Chiefs training camp as two highly touted rookies engaged in a heated altercation, forcing coaches to halt practice in the middle of a critical preseason session.

Eyewitnesses say the incident occurred during an intense 9-on-7 drill, where tempers flared and physicality crossed the line. The confrontation involved first-year standouts Kingsley Simmons and Ashton Gillotte, both expected to compete for major roles in 2025.

According to team sources, the drill was initially competitive but soon escalated into shoving and exchanged punches after a hard block. Veterans rushed in to separate the pair as whistles echoed across the field.

Head coach Andy Reid immediately suspended practice, gathering the entire team for a stern message about discipline, respect, and team unity. “We don’t tolerate that here,” a staff member was overheard saying.

Medical staff quickly checked both rookies, who escaped serious injury but were visibly frustrated. The organization has not announced further discipline, but both players were sent to the locker room for the remainder of the day.

The skirmish has sparked debate among fans and analysts. Some see it as rookie growing pains, while others worry about chemistry as the Chiefs chase another Super Bowl appearance.

Camp resumes tomorrow, with coaches emphasizing a renewed focus on professionalism and composure. The Simmons–Gillotte dustup is a reminder that in Kansas City, competition is fierce — but respect for the badge comes first.

Stay tuned for updates as the Chiefs address this training camp
