The NFL’s ongoing audit of retired player activity unearthed an unexpected scandal in Denver, sending shockwaves through Broncos Nation this morning.
Officials confirmed that linebacker Darius Floyd, a two-time Pro Bowler for the Broncos from 2012-2019, has been banned for life following revelations of extensive betting on NFL games — much of it during his final years in Denver.
The league’s review showed Floyd using multiple accounts belonging to friends and extended family to conceal over 350 bets, including several involving the Broncos themselves.
Commissioner Goodell declared, “No player — former or current — is immune from the consequences of such actions.” Floyd’s violations, he added, “represent a major breach of the values our game is built upon.”
Broncos leadership expressed disappointment, vowing to reemphasize ethical training for all players, past and present. “We are heartbroken for Broncos fans,” their statement read.
